The Styled Home's Happy Customers

  • Homeowner, Yarmouth, Maine

Staging is a new concept to many, especially if you are not aware what is going on in the real estate world. My Husband and I are senior citizens who faced moving from our home
of 22 years. We lived on beautiful waterfront property with spectacular views from every room in our house but alas! between wallpaper, drapes, family treasures, oil paintings, heavy furniture, etc. it was hard to see through it all and take in the breathtaking views. When the idea of staging was first presented to us by our realtor, we were stunned but we listened and gave it some thought.
At first we baulked, then we began to visualize the results and gradually we came on board with the idea. We removed most of our furniture, wall hangings, drapes, oriental rugs and the wall paper.  Fresh paint, soft colors, clear walls and windows and WOW! what a transformation. The views now commanded attention. Add to this, furniture artfully chosen, not too heavy, not too dark, not too formal but comfortable and inviting. Finish with some rugs, wall hangings, pillows and lamps. The effect was "new house" or "this could be our house".  The owners tastes and personalities are not present and the bones of a good house become obvious. In today's world, this is what the buyers want to see. They want to see the house NOW the way it could be. Staging is the way to go!

When my wife and I put our house on the market, we were convinced that it would sell quickly. After nine months of showings, both we and our realtor were discouraged. We had buyers come in, look at our home and walk out. Our realtor suggested that we contact Elizabeth from The Styled Home for a staging consultation. After a meeting and a game plan, we implemented her suggestions which included, painting the interior wall colors to a current neutral color, updating our old brass light fixtures, replacing all the worn brass door knobs, removing wall paper and replacing original carpeting as well as building out a new master closet which was one of the constant comments our realtor received from buyers. It was a significant investment and quite a project but within two weeks; we had a firm offer and a closing. The most amazing thing of all is that the buyer was someone who had seen our home previously! She LOVED everything we did. I guess you don't know what you don't know!! We have worked with Elizabeth in our new home and our summer home, and would highly recommend her to anyone who wants immediate results.

  • Nancy T., Portland, Maine

Elizabeth and her crew transformed our house in less than a day and had beautiful photos taken of each room and the outside.  Our realtor listed the house late one Friday afternoon and a few hours later we got an offer on the house from someone in Baltimore at the asking price.  Over the weekend, we received two more offers.  We accepted one, which was well above the asking price.  We believe that the excellent job of staging the house that Elizabeth did was the reason the house sold so quickly.  We are very thankful that we used her and strongly recommend that anyone trying to sell their home should be sure to have it professionally staged!

After our house sat on the market for a year, our new realtor strongly suggested staging the house. She said "It is the closest thing to a magic bullet I know". And that is when The Styled Home came into the picture and [Elizabeth], our realtor and I made a plan. Well, it worked! It is now two months after going back on the market and the house is under contract. Thanks so much for all your expertise, your taste and your hard work to make it happen. I enjoyed working with you. My husband, admittedly, was very reluctant at first but enthusiastically changed his mind after the first room was painted. Staging is definitely the way to go!

I bought a beautiful one bedroom condo in an historic farmhouse in the West End in 2004 when I was in my 20s. I moved away after nearly a decade there but held onto the property as an investment. This summer we decided the time was right to finally sell, despite being quite sentimental about the unit and wishing I could keep it forever! We now live out of state, and planned some renovations to update the property, which was a fairly stressful process to manage “from away” as they say in Maine. It is an open concept one-bedroom, but if it hit the market empty, I worried potential buyers would not see how roomy it actually is, and how charming it could look. Enter, the Styled Home. Elizabeth and her team whisked in one morning, and had it ready for the pages of a fine magazine in less than two hours. From the first time we spoke, I found Elizabeth incredibly professional, which truly matters when you are five states away. She was accommodating, clear, and also flexible when we had to move back the original staging date because of project delays. She has a fantastic eye and a warehouse of warm and inviting furniture and one-of-a-kind pieces. I believe the staging really helped buyers visualize what their home could look like, how much furniture could physically fit, and nearly made me want to move back in! We got an offer in two weeks, and we closed (smoothly) three weeks after that. Staging by a professional is absolutely worth it. I plan to recommend her services to anyone I know looking to sell. Thank you Elizabeth!

  • Bob Talbot, Phi Home Designs

Phi Home Designs is a design-build firm located in Rockport Maine. After purchasing a historical home in Camden for a full design-build renovation, the home was listed for sale. While the listing did get some activity a decision was made to stage the home. After contacting Elizabeth with The Styled Home she scheduled time to promptly come to Camden and do a walk-through. She immediately started to create ideas and mapping rooms to stage. Additionally she listened very closely to our goals and incorporated those ideas with her own solutions. In no time Elizabeth scheduled to make her staging delivery. She hit it all; from furniture, pillows, rugs, artwork and finer details to create a fairly sparse house into a warm and inviting home. Within a week the house was shown again and an offer was presented. Within 45 days the house had closed. Having a home staged just takes out the guessing work for a prospective buyer who may not have the creative vision of space. Thank you Elizabeth!

I just wanted to compliment you and your crew of workers for the hard work and amazing results staging our home. As you know the house was empty and had been on the market several times with no success. With you in control you turned the blank canvas into a masterpiece! Our broker, Patti, recommended your company and although the cost estimate caused some initial heartburn, the end result couldn’t have been better. Your design and the professional pictures drew in a crowd on several occasions and resulted in two contracts the first week! Two months from listing to closing! Unbelievable!

Elizabeth of The Styled Home has been so wonderful for the past year!  I bought a beach house in Maine and I live in Los Angeles, California.  My family spends the summers here and we rent the house when we are not visiting.  I was referred  to this very talented team by our real estate agent because the house needed a face lift and we needed someone to execute our vision from across the country.  Monique, Elizabeth and I worked closely long distance to change a 1920 beach cabin into a New England cozy cottage.  I will always be grateful for their vision and expertise and plan to use them in the future when we have any improvements that need attention.

My husband and I hired The Styled Home to help get our home staged before we put it on the market. We didn’t quite know what to expect and were nervous that it would be a lot of work and expense. Elizabeth made it SO easy for us and there were lots of options in the “how” to get it done. We were SO pleased with the results and kicked ourselves for not having her come before we thought of selling our house, because the things she did made our home look spectacular. We are definitely hiring her when we move to our new house to help us “put it all together”!

As for your work, there is so much to say. Your design plan was spot on. You and your crew did an amazing job. You breathed new life into my furnishings with the use of your furniture pieces and decorative accents. Your rearrangement of furniture was truly transforming. It allowed the rooms to live in a whole new way. The end result was that my house looked absolutely flawless and current. I know that at points in time I was somewhat reticent about some of the suggestions that you made.  However, that being said I understood the direction you were going in, and had faith in your expertise. I truly appreciated your ability to flex to incorporate my suggestions or concerns relating to color as well as the significant impacts  of light and how it alters color in our home. In the end our home became a very beautiful, amped up version of itself. I've had the pleasure of being there and enjoying every aspect of it for this past month. What a wonderful experience before saying goodbye to her!
Thank you for compassion and patience. Frankly, I was a bit overwhelmed at the prospect of getting our home on the market after nearly 30 years in it. There was so much to do in terms of removing the vestiges of the 80s, weeding through 30 years of stuff, as well as the psychological angst of saying goodbye to our family home...all in a compressed timeframe while needing knee replacement. (It nearly gives me hives to roll my head back to that point in time, haha!)  Thanks to you and Linda, I survived and succeeded!
Access to your vendors was a great shortcut to quality work!  Jonathan was wonderful to work with...so flexible, timely and helpful, to say nothing of the high quality of work that he did. Tan couldn't have been more accommodating in fitting us in over the weekend so we could stay off of the floors...and again, great quality to the work he did. Jay's Gelcoating of the bath fixtures resulted in an amazing transformation.
As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Your philosophy of doing the work up front, removes the pain on the backside of the project...waiting for your home to sell. To have two full price offers after being on the market for three days is extraordinary. I truly believe that Linda's real estate savvy and your staging expertise are a dynamic combo.
Again, thank you so much for your time, energy and efforts on our behalf. It is truly appreciated.

Elizabeth is a life saver and great fun. While we cope with the chaos of relocating to another state, she managed the preparation of our home sale. Her and her team staged the home beautifully and have tackled a long list of “to-dos” to get the home ready. They organized interior and exterior painting, kitchen cabinet repair, plumbing renovations and spotless cleaning. This has all been done efficiently while we traveled and it saved us time, money and stress! We would highly recommend The Styled Home to anyone who is preparing to sell their home or planning to renovate or refurbish a home.

Elizabeth of The Styled Home met with my clients and made recommendations to capture the warmth, comfort and superior  craftsmanship of this home. Her eye for simplistic style, color, arrangement of furnishings and accessories,  transformed each and every room with what can only be described as AMAZING.  We, along with our clients, are very fortunate to have her.
